Caldwell Edges Philadelphia in Men’s Tennis, 5-4

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men's tennis team defeated Philadelphia University, 5-4 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Saturday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The win is the first over Philadelphia in 10 duals for the Cougars, who are now 2-1 overall and in league play. The Rams drop to 3-7, 0-1 CACC.

Caldwell was victorious at first and second doubles, as sophomore Andrej Bozovic (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina/St. Joseph) and freshman Maximilian Ziegler (Erfurt, Germany) won a first doubles, 8-2, and junior Christopher Long (Plainfield, NJ/Trinity Christian) and freshman Hugo Castalan (Rouen, France) won at second doubles by the score of 8-6.

In singles, Bozovic and Ziegler won their matches in straight sets at second and third singles. Castalan earned a three-set victory over Nail Rachidi at third singles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 to clinch the win.

Next up for Caldwell is another CACC dual against USciences on Tuesday, Mar. 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
