Caldwell Men’s Tennis Opens Season with Win over Bloomfield

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College men's tennis team started the 2013 season with an 8-1 victory over Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Thursday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The Cougars, who were 1-10 last season, open the year 1-0 overall and in the conference, while the Deacons fall to 0-2.

In doubles play, sophomore Christopher Long (Plainfield, NJ/Trinity Christian) and freshman Andrej Bozovic (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina/St. Joseph) won their match at No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Senior George Mikula (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) and freshman Juan Arencibia (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) also were victorious at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Bozovic, Long, Mikula and junior Al Navas (Cliffside Park, NJ/Fort Lee) won their matches in straight sets. Arencibia and sophomore Cole Downs (Bricktown, NJ/Brick Twp.) were victorious in pro sets at third and sixth singles, respectively.

Next up for the Cougars is a CACC dual at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, Mar. 23.
