CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's tennis team opened the 2009 spring season with a 9-0 loss to Philadelphia University Tuesday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The result marked the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual for both schools, as the league will crown a champion this spring for the first time.
The Rams swept the matches at both doubles and singles, surrendering just four games in nine matches. Philadelphia's Manoli Sgouros won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to lead the Rams, who improved to 6-6 overall on the season.
The Cougars, who were 5-9 a year ago, will host Post University in another CACC dual on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.
