PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College men's tennis team captured five of six singles matches en route to a 7-2 victory over Chestnut Hill College Wednesday afternoon. Junior Thane McKenzie (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) was one of three players to win both their singles and doubles matches, helping the Cougars improve to 2-6 on the season. The loss drops the Griffins to 7-9.

McKenzie and junior Alex Ali (Lakewood, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) won their match at No. 3 doubles, defeating Kyle DeRiemer and Mike Maccherone, 8-0. Junior Mike Ober (Lavallette, NJ/Point Beach) combined with freshman Josh Getka (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) to win a close match at No. 2 doubles, 9-8 (7-1) over Garrett Senior and Jim Stewart.  McKenzie then won his match in straight sets at No. 5 singles, as did Ali at No. 1 singles and Getka at No. 6 singles. Seniors Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) and Amir Zandieh (Tehran, Iran/Montville) also were victorious at second and third singles, respectively.

The Cougars host the University of the Sciences on Saturday, Apr. 19, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.
