Louise Melleno Pastore was better known as "Loukie" during her time as a standout basketball player at St. Dominic High School in Jersey City and Caldwell College. A high-scoring guard, Pastore totaled over 1,600 points for St. Dominic, earning her a spot in the Hudson County Hall of Fame in 1993. By coming to Caldwell, Pastore provided the basketball team with its first true star and put the College on the sports map. Her impact on the court was immediate, helping the team place second at a Dominican College tournament during her freshman season.

"The team wasn’t as strong in previous years, so we weren’t expected to do much," she said. "When we played so well at that tournament, that was a turning point for the team, and it marked a change in Caldwell basketball. Mrs. Caulfield, who was our coach that year, was so proud of what we accomplished."

Pastore, who led Caldwell in scoring in each of her four seasons, passed along her interest in athletics to her children. She and her husband Matthew have three boys, Matthew, Alex and Timothy, who were student-athletes in college.
