NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Ten Caldwell University student athletes have been named to the 2026 CACC softball All-Academic Team, the league announced today.
The Cougars honored are:
- Sam DiDonna (Staten Island, N.Y.), Soph., INF, Psychology, 3.80 GPA
- Haleigh Fisher (Smyrna, N.Y.), Soph., RHP, Biology/Psychology, 3.89 GPA
- CC Lanzi (Cumberland, R.I.), Soph, RHP, Communicative Sciences and Disorders, 3.94 GPA
- Maddie Matkosky (Horseheads, N.Y.), INF, Nursing, 3.84 GPA
- Kenzie Nazionale (Ontario, Calif.), OF, Criminal Justice, 3.68 GPA
- Katie O'Connor (Charlottesville, Va.), RHP, Health Science, 3.94 GPA
- Lindsay Oller (South Plainfield, N.J.), 3B, Education, 3.87 GPA
- Amanda Preston (Warwick, R.I.), C, Nursing, 3.75 GPA
- Emily Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.), INF, Criminal Justice, 3.85 GPA
- Lexi Weiss (Norristown, Pa.), OF, Finance, 3,87 GPA
DiDonna scored eight runs and had 13 hits on the season.
Fisher, the CACC Pitcher of the Year, All-CACC First Team and NFCA Second Team All-East Region performer, led the CACC with a 2.60 ERA. She is a four-time CACC Academic Honor Roll member, was the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month in May and is a CSC Academic All-District pick.
Lanzi is a four-time CACC Academic Honor Roll member. She recorded 20 strikeouts and two saves in 16 appearances and five starts.
Matkosky, a Second Team All-CACC selection, split time between second base and shortstop. She batted .324 with 36 hits, 29 runs, 11 doubles, 3 triples and 18 RBI, and has been named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll four times. She also earned CSC Academic All-District.
Nazionale, a First Team All-CACC and All-Tournament honoree, hit .359 with 31 stolen bases, 51 hits, 42 runs and five triples. She has been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team twice and also earned First Team All-East Region and First Team All-CACC honors in 2025.
O'Connor, selected Second Team All-CACC and to the All-Tournament Team, posted a 15-8 mark with 3.54 ERA in 28 appearances (20 starts) on the season. She was the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month in April and is making her second appearance on the CACC All-Academic team.
Oller hit .306 with 30 hits, 13 runs scored and 17 RBI. She was also named to the CSC Academic All-District team and is a four-time CACC Academic Honor Roll member.
Preston is a Second Team All-CACC selection and four-time CACC Academic Honor Roll pick. She hit .280 with 19 RBI on the season.
Tavaska scored 18 runs, tied for sixth best on the team, playing in 40 games (20 starts). She has been named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll four times.
Weiss also scored 18 runs and had eight hits and four stolen bases on the season. She has been named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll four times and last year was fifth on the team with a .318 batting average.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution, prior to Spring 2025; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
