NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Junior righthander
Jonathan Gambone (Westville, N.J.) has been named CACC Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 26, the league announced today. Senior 1B
Chris Hopf (Middlesex, N.J.) earned league Honor Roll.
Gambone pitched the first perfect game in Caldwell and CACC history in seven-inning, 11-0 run rule win over Lincoln on Sunday. He threw just 62 pitches in the contest, striking out five. He has gone seven innings in each of his last three starts.Â
Hopf hit his 11th and 12th home runs of the year, one shy of the CU single-season record, in wins over Lincoln on Sunday, before tying the mark on Monday. He slashed .545/.705/1.182 (OPS 1.887) for the week with six RBI. He also scored from second for go-ahead run in the Game 2 win on Sunday after preserving Gambone's perfect game with lunging scoop of throw in fifth inning, game one Sunday.
Caldwell concludes the season on Tuesday at Chestnut Hill.
