NEW YORK - Senior guard
Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) and senior forward
DeAngelo Horn (Detroit) have been named to the
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Men's Basketball Teams. The honors follow outstanding seasons that saw the trio earn numerous awards and lead the Cougars to 15 wins in their last 23 games and an appearance in the CACC Tournament semifinals.
Evans, selected to the All-Met First Team, ranked third in the CACC in scoring (16.6 ppg), fourth in assists (4.2), third in steals (2.0) and seventh in minutes (32.6) while earning First Team All-CACC honors. He became the 25th Cougar (14th in NCAA DII era 2002-pres.) to score 1000 points, on February vs. Bridgeport, and concluded his Cougars career with 1,131 points, good for 19th all-time. He also earned CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2026, and is a three-time CACC Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Horn, who for the second straight year was selected All-Met Honorable Mention, had an outstanding senior season in red and white, averaging 15.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. His .528 shooting percentage ranked seventh in the league as he was selected to the All-CACC Second Team. He totaled 667 points in his two years at Caldwell, compiling 1498 points including his junior college seasons.
Evans will receive his awards at the 93nd MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards dinner, scheduled for Thursday evening, April 23, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
