NEW YORK -- Senior forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) was been named Women's Basketball Divisions II/III Player of the Week by the Met Basketball Writers Assn., the organization announced today.
The designation, for games played Jan. 19-25, are unique in that they encompass players from 70 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.
Coogan --- who also was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week --- averaged 22.5 points on a pair of double-doubles as the Cougars (13-6, 6-5) registered two road victories last week, edging Staten Island 67-64 Tuesday and beating Goldey-Beacom 86-48 Saturday.
Coogan scored 22 points, including four straight clutch free throws down the stretch, along with pulling down a season-best 14 rebounds in the narrow win at Staten Island.
She followed with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds in the win at Goldey-Beacom.
Coogan. a First Team All-Met Writers selection in 2024-25, is now 12th all-time in scoring at CU (sixth in the NCAA DII era) and seventh in career 3-point goals (155). This season she is fifth in CACC in scoring (16.1 ppg) and second in free throw accuracy (85.5%).
She and the Cougars take on Felician on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Newman Center.
