NEW YORK - Senior forward
Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) and junior guard
Jah'Nel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) have been named to the
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Women's Basketball Teams. The honors follow outstanding seasons that saw the duo earn numerous awards and lead the Cougars to 21 wins, the most for the program since the 2017-18 campaign. Both earned the honor for the second straight year.
Coogan, selected to the All-Met First Team, was also a First Team All-CACC selection after averaging 17.4 points (3rd CACC) and 7.7 rebounds per contest. Her 87.2% free throw percentage led the CACC and ranked 19th nationally, and she was first in the league in three point field goals made (74) and percentage (40.4%). Coogan finished her career with 1668 points, seventh in school history and fourth in the NCAA DII era (2002-present).
Lewis, selected to the All-Met Second Team, was a Second Team All-CACC and CSC Academic All-District honoree. She averaged 15.7 points (6th), 5.3 rpg, 3.2 apg (8th CACC) and 2.0 steals per game (4th). Her 1464 points through her third year at Caldwell rank 13th all-time at the school (seventh in the NCAA DII era) and she is a three-time All-CACC selection.
The two will receive their awards at the 93nd MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards dinner, scheduled for Thursday evening, April 23, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
