Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, the league announced today. Additionally, junior guard
Jah'Nel Lewis was selected to the weekly Honor Roll as the duo led the Cougars to a 2-0 week.
Coogan scored 22 points, including four straight free throws down the stretch in a narrow win over Staten Island on Tuesday, then followed up with a game-high 23 in a win at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.
Coogan registered double-doubles in both games (third straight overall), with a season-best 14 boards at CSI and 10 at GBC. She now ranks 12th all-time in scoring at CU (sixth in the NCAA DII era) with 1451 points and seventh in three pointers made (155).
This year, she rates fifth in CACC in scoring (16.1 ppg), second in FT% (85.5%), 12th in rebounding (6.9), and first in both 3FG made (2.2) and 3FG% (38.0%).
Lewis totaled 41 points, 13 rebounds and three steals each in the two wins. She currently ranks fourth in the CACC in scoring (16.3 ppg) and sixth in steals (2.5).
It's the second Player of the Week honor for Coogan, and fifth time Lewis has been named to the Honor Roll. Lewis also has a Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The Cougars (13-7), tied for the second most wins in the East region, host Felician on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Newman Center.
