NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Caldwell University softball senior shortstop
Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2025, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today. Tavaska earned the award for demonstrating success on the field during the month, while also being a standout in the classroom and giving back to her community.
Tavaska, a health sciences major with a 3.64 GPA, currently leads the league in numerous offensive categories, including OPS (1.356), RBI (40), hits (50), home runs (8) and sacrifice flies (4), while ranking in the top three in batting (.467), runs (32) and triples (5). The four-year starter is also in the Caldwell Softball career top five all-time in hits, home runs, RBI, doubles, triples, total bases, and slugging, and top 10 in just about every other category. She is a three-time All-CACC performer (first team, 2024 and Second Team, 2022 and 2023) and D2CCA Division II All-East Region First Team pick last year and Second Team in 2023.
She is a five-time member of the CU Dean's List and has earned CSC Academic All-District, CACC All-Academic and CACC Honor Roll designations.
Tavaska's extensive community service work includes membership in the Student-Athlete Menor Club (SAM) and Caldwell University Breaks Stigma (CUBS) programs since 2023. She has also served as a volunteer for Strides Against Breast Cancer, the Semper Five Marine 5K and Walk, Autism Speaks Walk and Rise a Pediatric Intensive Physical Therapy.Â
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out from September to May each academic year. It recognizes one student-athlete from any sport active during that month. Tavaska's honor is the third for a Caldwell student-athlete in the past year, joining Lauren Marks (March 2024), Joey Datta (October 2024) and Brooke Corbett (February 2025).
