Volcy, Sobura-Durma, Edwards, Mensah Deliver CACC Qualifiers at Kean Cougars Sprint Showcase

Volcy wins 200, 400, Sobura-Durma takes 400 hurdles

UNION, N.J. -- Junior Geraldy Volcy (Irvington, N.J.), junior Jakub Sobura-Durma (Keilce, Poland), senior Ethan Edwards (Edison, N.J.) and senior Pharrell Mensah (Belleville, N.J.) all turned in CACC-qualifying performances at the Kean Cougars Sprinter Showcase on Wednesday at Kean University.

Volcy posted a 50.99 time in the 400m to finish first, a CACC qualifying mark, while also taking first in the 200m at 23.12. Sobura-Durma was first in the 400 hurdles at 55.91, his best run of the season. Edwards, who had already qualified in the 110 hurdles, did so in the 400 hurdles at Kean, with a 1:01.51, good for fourth place. Mensah was right behind him at 1:01.73 to also qualify.

Other medal performances were turned in by freshman Davion Clark (East Orange, N.J.) in third in the 100m (11.37), soph Xaiden Simmons (Hoboken, N.J.) in second in the 200m (23.39), freshman Jonathan Jones (Monrovia, Liberia) in third in the 200m (22.43) and freshman Steven Ramirez in third in the 400 hurdles (52.03).
