CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman base/tumbler
Jackie Vereen (Suffolk, Va.) has been named Honorable Mention Rookie of the Week by the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) for the week ending March 2, the organization announced today.
Vereen helped the Cougars to two victories, 203.675-31.075 over AIC on Thursday and 221.750-167.255 over Stevenson on Sunday. The latter score was the highest in Caldwell's program history.
Vereen's performance in seven events plus the team event in each match included three scores of higher than 9.0: a 9.65 in the Compulsory Toss vs. Stevenson, 9.6 in the Compulsory Pyramid vs. Stevenson, and 9.05 in the Compulsory Pyramid vs. AIC.
She also had a total of 11 events among the 14 in the two meets that scored above 8.2, highlighted by her individual 8.3 in the Aerial Tumble v. Stevenson and an 8.8 in the Compulsory Toss vs. AIC.
She and the Cougars host AIC on March 11 in their next action.
