CALDWELL, N.J. – Following administrative discussion and a comprehensive review of the University's athletic offerings, resources and long-term strategic priorities, Caldwell University today announced that it is discontinuing its Acrobatics & Tumbling program, effective immediately.

"This decision was not made lightly," said Mark A. Corino, assistant vice president and director of athletics. "It reflects a careful assessment of participation trends, lack of available coaching, competitive opportunities at the NCAA Division II level within our region, financial sustainability, and our commitment to providing a broad-based, competitive, and equitable athletics program for our more than 400 student-athletes."

The Caldwell University Department of Athletics is committed to supporting the affected student-athletes through this transition. The University will honor existing scholarship aid in accordance with NCAA policies and will provide assistance for those who may wish to transfer or explore other opportunities within its athletics program.

"We are deeply grateful to our student-athletes and coaches for their dedication, hard work and contributions to the program," added Corino. "Their efforts have had a positive impact on our campus community and represented the University with pride."

Acrobatics & Tumbling alumni will continue to be recognized and celebrated as Cougar Athletics alumni and remain eligible for any honors former Caldwell University student-athletes may attain. The program was active from 2023 through 2026.

Caldwell will offer 16 intercollegiate sports in 2026-27. Seven men's teams compete for the University, while the recent addition of women's flag football brings the number of women's programs to nine.
