Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) were both named to the All-CACC Women's Basketball First Team, and sophomore guard
Brooke Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) was selected as the circuit's Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced today.
Lewis leads the CACC in scoring (18.1 ppg) and ranks sixth in steals (1.8), ninth in assists (2.9) and fifth in minutes played (35.6). She scored 10 or more points in 27 of the Cougars' 28 games, including a career-high 36 vs. Bloomfield on Saturday. Additionally, she netted 20 or more in 11 contests. In just her sophomore year, her 953 points ranks 13th in Caldwell's Division II history (2003-present).
Coogan places fourth in the league in scoring (16.8 ppg), fifth in rebounding (7.5), 11th in blocks (0.8) and sixth in minutes played (34.8). She was named to the CACC weekly honor roll six times, including two straight weeks in February, and her 1132 career points are 16th all time at CU and 9th in the DII era.
Corbett leads the CACC and ranks 17th nationally in steals (2.9/game). The 5'8" guard regularly guards the Cougar opponent's best offensive player, regardless of position. She also contributed 6.0 rpg, second on the team and 21st in the league, and 12 blocks. Corbett is Caldwell's second DPoYÂ and first since 2018, when Sharell Sanders earned the honor.
The Cougars (16-12, 10-6 CACC), the #2 North seed in the CACC Tournament, take on #3 South Chestnut Hill on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Newman Center in the quarterfinals. The winner advances to the semis, set for Saturday at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
