Lindsay Mayer Named Caldwell University Head Softball Coach

Former Fordham standout, Arcadia Head Coach Replaces Longtime Coach Dean Johnson

Lindsay Mayer has been selected as the new head coach for Caldwell University softball, it was announced today by Mark A. Corino, Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics. Mayer comes to Caldwell following stints as head coach at Arcadia (Pa.) University and assistant at Division I College of the Holy Cross, Hofstra University and Wagner College.

Mayer takes over the program from Dean Johnson, who resigned after 29 years at the helm and remains at Caldwell as head men's basketball coach and associate director of athletics.

A 2017 graduate of Fordham University, Mayer was a two-time NFCA Third Team All-Region selection, Atlantic-10 Player of the Year, Two-Time All-A-10, and a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the Rams after a year at the University of Virginia.

"This is an exciting day for Caldwell University and our softball program as we welcome Lindsay Mayer as our head coach," said Corino. "She has played and coached at a high level and comes highly recommended as a person of great integrity, energy and skill in all areas of coaching."

"I look forward to this tremendous opportunity to lead the Caldwell program which has had so much success over the years," said Mayer, who guided Arcadia to a 20-21 mark in her first season in 2023. "I am grateful to Mr. Corino and Coach Johnson for their trust in me to not only maintain that high level but achieve even more."

A native of Lincoln, Rhode Island, Mayer was a two-time Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013 at Lincoln H.S. In addition to a communications degree from Fordham, she earned her Master's from Hofstra in 2019.
