Ana Gonzalez Martin (Toledo, España) and junior
Alexis Byfield (Hawthorne, N.J.) both earned third place finishes, pacing Caldwell women's track and field's fine performance on the first day of the CACC Championships at the Georgian Court University track complex.
Martin took bronze in the 10,000 meter run, finishing in 42:17.24. Byfield long jumped 5.37m to take the third spot on the podium as the Cougars currently rank tied for fifth with 12 points after five scored events.
Other Cougars results on the day included freshman
Chennaya Tschopp (Belleville, N.J.) at 14th in the 100m dash (13.34) and freshman
Isabella Pollock (Fair Lawn, N.J.) ninth in the 400m dash (1:02.33).
With five events completed, the Cougars rank tied for fifth among the 11 teams with 12 points. The finals of the events which competed in prelims today will be held Sunday.
