CALDWELL, N.J. -- Graduate shortstop Waldy Arias (Plainfield, N.J.), senior catcher Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.), junior 1B Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.), sophomore pitcher Brandon Scalisi (New City, N.Y.) and senior pitcher Connor Woods (Bethlehem, N.J.) have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). They will now all be placed on the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

Arias batted .291 with 29 runs scored, 34 hits, eight doubles, three triples and four home runs in his first year at Caldwell. His .513 slugging percentage was third on the team and his .447 on base was second on the squad. The Sports Management major primarily played shortstop but saw time at second and third base as well.

Richards, a four-year starter, hit a career best .315 this year with .390 on base and .426 slugging and eight stolen bases. For his career, the MBA candidate had 119 hits, six home runs and 62 RBI and hit .283.

Saunders led this year's team in doubles (12) and triples (3) while hitting .297 with 26 RBI, second on the team. The Sports Management major moved smoothly from outfield to first base and is a two-time CACC All-Academic Team member.

Scalisi went 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA this year in 11 appearances and 10 starts in the Cougars' rotation. He struck out 48 and walked 16 in 48 innings of work.
