DALLAS, Pa. -- The Caldwell men's and women's track & field squads put together their best results of the season, collecting five school records and one tied record. The men finished in second place overall and the women fourth at the Misericordia University Twilight event on Tuesday.
For the men, rewriting the school record books were soph
Ethan Edwards (Edison, N.J.), who took first place in the 100 hurdles (15.86); junior
Kyle Kuren (Woodland Park, N.J), who was first in the hammer with a mark of 47.40m; junior
Michael Lehman (Wayne, N.J.), who placed second in the shot put at 12.99m; and freshman
Andrew Scopel (Green Brook, N.J.), whose 48.90 javelin throw ranked third at the meet. Other standout men's performances were turned in by freshman
Geraldy Volcy (Irvington, N.J.), who finished first in the 400m (50.33) and sophomore
Rayhan Issah (Dublin, Ireland), who won the long jump at 6.71m.Â
Soph
Fabrice Remy (Roselle, N.J.) showed versatility by placing in all four events in which he was entered. Issah, Scopel and freshman
Kevin Campen (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) did the same in their three events, respectively.
The Cougars women were paced by the outstanding double-record performance of junior
Alexis Byfield (Hawthorne, N.J), who set a new school mark in the triple jump (10.54) to finish second and tied the Cougar record in the high jump at 1.52m, also a second place showing. She competed in four events, placing in each. Freshman
Chennaya Tschopp (Belleville, N.J.) and senior
Deneisha Williams (D'abadie, Trinidad and Tobago) did so in their three events as well.
The Cougars will be back on the track on April 14 when they visit New London, Conn., fo rthe Connecticut College Invitational.
