NEWARK, Del.- The Caldwell University softball team picked up three honorees on the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Region squad as the association announced its 2022 D2CCA All-East Region selections. Freshman outfielder
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.) and freshman designated player
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) earned D2CCA East Region First Team Honors, while junior third base
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) was selected to the D2CCA East Region Second Team.
Klein was the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and a CACC First Team pick this season after leading the conference with a .465 batting average. She is adding 42 runs scored, 60 hits, seven doubles, 18 RBI and 25 stolen bases, while posting a .514 on base percentage. Klein leads the CACC in runs scored and on based percentage, while ranking fifth in hits and fourth in stolen bases.
Winters turned in a solid freshman campaign for the Cougars as she earned CACC First Team honors at designated player. She is batting .358 this season with four homeruns, 31 RBI, 13 doubles, 25 runs scored, 48 hits and 73 total bases. Winters ranks fourth in the CACC in doubles, 12th in RBI and 15th in total bases.
Grundhauser was a CACC First Team pick this season after leading the team in homeruns and RBI. She is contributing a .373 batting average with 11 doubles, 10 homeruns, 40 runs scored, 56 hits, 45 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 103 total bases. Grundhauser ranks third in the CACC in runs, tenth in hits, seventh in triples, fourth in homeruns, second in RBI, fourth in total bases, ninth in stolen bases, 12th in average and 11th in doubles.
The Cougars season continues this week in the 2022 NCAA Division II Softball Championship as part of the East Region 1 bracket starting on Thursday, May 12.
