WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- Caldwell University men's track and field freshman
Joey Datta (Edison, N.J.) won the 5000-meter event, while sophomore
Kyle Kuren (Woodland Park, N.J.) set another school record in the hammer throw as the Cougars competed in the Monarch Open hosted by King's College.
The Cougars took the top-3 spots in the 5000-meter led by Datta's first place finish with a time of 15:58.29. Freshman
Alfredo Oidor (Garfield, N.J.) took second place with a time of 16:42.49, while freshman
Carlos Hernandez (Garfield, N.J.) finished third with a time of 17:16.29. Sophomore
Alex Geddes (Randolph, N.J.) came in sixth place with a time of 17:58.72.
Kuren set another school record in the hammer, taking second place with a distance of 44.77 meters.
Freshman
Rayhan Issah (Dublin, Ireland) took third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25, while sophomore
Curtis Wright (Glassboro, N.J.) finished in fifth place with a time of 11.39.
Issah won the long jump event with a distance of 6.36 meters.
Freshman
Ethan Edwards (Edison, N.J.) came in eighth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.55, while freshman
Pharrell Mensah (Metuchen, N.J.) posted a tenth place finish with a time of 23.82.
Mensah took second place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.24, while sophomore
Chad Manning (Belleville, N.J.) came in fourth place with a time of 52.50.
Junior
Desmond Marfo (Irvington, N.J.) placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.95.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Datta, Geddes, Hernandez and Oidor took fourth place with a time of 3:54.81.
Sophomore
Ervin Chaush (Wallington, N.J.) finished in third place in the discus with a distance of 39.73 meters.
Freshman
Elliot Whitney (Woodland Park, N.J.) came in seventh place in the high jump with a height of 1.72 meters.
Freshman
Joseph Sasso (Nutley, N.J.) posted a seventh place finished with a throw of 39.56 meters.
The Cougars wrap up their season as they compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship May 7-8.
