DALLAS, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's track and field tea turned in several standout performances as they competed in the Misericordia University Invitational at Friday.
Senior
Ana Gonzalez Martin (Toledo, Spain) set the school record in the 5000-meter run as she took seventh place with a time of 19:13.93. She also took third place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:13.92.
Junior
Deneisha Williams (D'abadie, Trinidad and Tobago) finished in fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.31 and took seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.01. Freshman
Shamica Carey (Nassau, Bahamas) posted a sixth place showing in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.46, while taking sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.67.
Sophomore
Dagnelly Sarmiento (Weehawken, N.J.) placed third in the 10-meter hurdles with a time of 18.72, while taking third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:122.16.
Freshman
KJ Gordon (Latham, N.Y.) finished in third place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.65.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the quartet of sophomore
Alexis Byfield (Hawthorne, N.J.), sophomore
Sabina Neupane (Sindhuli, Nepal), freshman
Jalisa Smith (Newark, N.J.), and Williams finished third with a time of 52.03.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Carey, sophomore
Victoria Gwizdz (Sayreville, N.J.), sophomore
Gabriela Lopez (Belleville, N.J.), and Neupane took second place with a time of 4:28.09.
Sophomore
Victoria Pardi (Totowa, N.J.) finished in sixth place in the discus with a distance of 26.23, while taking sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 9.33 meters.
Sophomore
Norka Salazar (Weehawken, N.J.) placed fifth in the javelin with a distance of 21.44 meters, while junior
Suzanne Hamzah (Guttenburg, N.J.) finished in sixth place with a distance of 20.87 meters.
Byfield posted a third place finished in the triple jump with a distance of 10.93 meters.
The Cougars will send their 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to the prestigious Penn Relays on Friday, April 29. The full squad returns to action on Saturday, April 30 at the Monarch Opens hosted by Kings College.
