DALLAS, Pa.- Caldwell University women's track and field sophomore
Alexis Byfield (Hawthorne, N.J.) set the school long jump record as the Cougars finished in sixth place in the Misericordia University Twilight Invitational.
Byfield posted a school record 5.45 meters in the long jump, finishing in second place in the event. She also tied for third place in the high jump with a height of 1.42 meters.
Freshman
Jalisa Smith (Newark, N.J.) took tenth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.93.
Junior
Deneisha Williams (D'abadie, Trinidad and Tobago) finished in seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.02.
Freshman
Shamica Carey (Nassau, Bahamas) placed eighth in the 400-meter event with a time of 1:05.03.
Senior
Ana Gonzalez Martin (Toledo, Spain) posted a time of 19:55.76 in the 5000-meter run, finishing in third place.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the quartet of Byfield, Smith, freshman
KJ Gordon (Latham, N.Y.) and sophomore
Gabriela Lopez (Belleville, N.J.) took third place with a time of 52.44.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Carey, Gordon, Lopez and freshman
Eliana McNamee (Springfield, N.J) finished in fourth place with a time of 4:30.03.
Sophomore
Victoria Pardi (Totowa, N.J.) posted three top-10 performances in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. In the shot put, she took eighth place with a distance of 9.97 meters. She finished eighth in the discus with a distance of 27.96 meters and placed ninth in the hammer with a distance of 33.34 meters.
The Cougars took three of the top-10 spots in the javelin led by a seventh place by junior
Suzanne Hamzah (Guttenburg, N.J.) who recorded a distance of 21.34 meters. Sophomore
Norka Salazar (Weehawken, N.J.) finished ninth with a distance of 19.92 meters, while senior
Cindy Herrera (Rockaway, N.J.) placed tenth with a distance of 18.08 meters.
The Cougars return to action as they compete in the Misericordia University Invitational on Friday, April 22.
