Brunson, Hess Earn CACC All-Conference Recognition

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Caldwell University senior outfielder Tavis Brunson (Westfield, N.J.) earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team honors, while graduate relief pitcher Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.J.) was named to the CACC Second Team.
 
Brunson earned CACC First Team honors after leading the Cougars with a .418 batting average, 29 runs, 46 hits, six doubles, 10 homeruns and 47 RBI. Brunson leads the CACC in triples, homeruns, RBI, total bases with 100 and slugging with a .909 mark. He ranks second in the conference in hits, tenth in runs and third in batting average. Brunson currently leads Division II nationally in triples per game with 0.31.
 
Hess was named to the CACC Second Team as a relief pitcher. He posted a 2-2 record with two saves in 11 appearances this season. Hess tossed 25 2/3 innings on the season, recording 46 strikeouts for a 16.13 strikeouts per nine innings. He is third for third in the CACC in strikeouts and fourth in saves.
 
The Cougars have advanced to the CACC Championship Semifinals on Thursday, May 13 at the Kiwanis Oval and will take on North #3 Dominican College at 3 pm.
