NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Caldwell University women's basketball team was selected to finish in third place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The voting for the poll was conducted by the seven head coaches who have teams that opted in for the 2021 campaign. The Cougars are also ranked sixth in the D2SIDA Women's Basketball East Region Media Poll.
Dominican was selected to win the CACC with 41 points as they earned five first-place votes. Georgian Court University followed in second place with 35 points and one first place vote, while the Cougars were slotted in at the third spot with 34 points and one first place vote. Bloomfield College (26 points), Felician University (20), Concordia College (19) and Nyack College (14) rounded out the top-seven in the conference.
The 2021 CACC Women's Basketball season tips off next Thursday, Jan. 28, as the season will feature 10 regular season games for all seven competing schools. The regular season will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 27, and the CACC Championship Tournament will be held the following week of March 1-7. Dates and times for the tournament are still to be determined and will be released at a future date. The winner of the CACC Women's Basketball Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.
Head Coach
Torey Chatman enters her fourth season leading the Cougars and has guided the Cougars to the conference tournament all three seasons. Last season, Caldwell finished in third place in the CACC North Division.
Junior
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) is the top returner for the Cougars, averaging 9.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season. Sophomore
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) averaged 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, while junior
Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, Va.) posted 4.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.
