Knorr’s 200th Hit Highlights 10-2 Victory Over Felician

Box Score
CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College softball team defeated Felician College, 10-2 in five innings in the regular-season finale Monday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory gives the Cougars a 40-5 record overall and a 24-2 mark in league play. Junior Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) punctuated the win with her 200th career hit in the third inning.

The 24 conference victories are the most CACC wins in Caldwell softball history. This season also marks the fifth 40-win campaign and the second in a row for the Cougars.

With Felician leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Knorr doubled to right field for the 200th hit of her career. She is the seventh Cougar to record 200 hits in a career in the history of the program. The milestone helped to spark a six-run third inning, as junior Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda) hit a two-run double, junior Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) belted a two-run home run, and sophomores Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL/Dwyer) and Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ/Triton Reg.) had RBI singles. Then in the fourth, Calderon hit her second two-run double of the game, and freshman Gracie Sullivan (Elmhurst, IL/York) singled home senior Nicole Velardi (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and freshman Kate Hogan (East Meadow, NY/Holy Trinity).

Sophomore pitcher Amber Padilla (Chino, CA/Pomona Catholic) went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits to improve to 14-3 on the season. Knorr, Reighn, Calderon and Velardi each had two hits in the win. Also reaching a milestone was Reighn, who hit her 23rd double of the year in the first inning to break the school record for doubles in a season.

The victory also marked the final home game for seniors Velardi, Jacklyn Bates (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) and Lindsay Truan (San Jose, CA/Leland).

The Cougars earned the No. 1 seed for this week's CACC Tournament, which starts on Thursday, May 1 in Lakewood, N.J. on the campus of Georgian Court University.
