Box Score 2 CALDWELL, N.J. – The 10th-ranked Caldwell College softball team defeated Molloy College, 6-2 and 5-1 in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. With the wins, the Cougars improve to 34-4 overall, while the Lions fall to 23-20.
In the first game, Caldwell answered Molloy's run in the top of the first with a run-scoring single by junior
Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda) that tied the game at 1-1. Erin Clinton put the Lions ahead, 2-1 with an RBI double in the top of the third. Then in the bottom of the third, junior
Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) doubled to score sophomore
Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ/Triton Regional), and freshman
Amy Hickman (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) came through with a two-run single for a 4-2 advantage. The Cougars scored two runs in the sixth, including a sacrifice fly from junior
Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea) that plated Hickman.

Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL/Dwyer) each had two hits in the win. Sophomore
Amber Padilla (Chino, CA/Pomona Catholic) pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six and walking three to improve to 12-2.
In Game 2, Reighn and Fryday hit RBI singles in the bottom of the third inning for a 2-0 lead. Molloy made it a one-run game with an unearned run in the top of the fourth. Then in the bottom of the fifth, Hickman delivered her second two-run hit of the day, singling up the middle with the bases loaded to score Fryday and McCready. Reighn knocked in Knorr in the sixth to put Caldwell up 5-1.
Freshman
Sydney Ponto (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) pitched another strong game, holding the Lions to an unearned run on three hits while fanning 10 in seven innings en route to her 13th victory of the season. McCready and Reighn each had three hits in the win.
The Cougars host Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Thursday, Apr. 24. The first game starts at 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
