Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
NEWTOWN, Pa. – The 11th-ranked Caldwell College softball team defeated Holy Family University, 4-2 and 3-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader Monday afternoon at Helen Randle Park. The wins give the Cougars a 28-4 record on the season, including a 14-1 CACC mark. The Tigers drop to 22-10, 13-2 CACC.

Caldwell jumped out to a 1-0 lead in Game 1 on a triple by junior Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda) that plated sophomore Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL/Dwyer) in the top of the first inning. Then in the third, sophomore Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ/Triton Regional) hit a two-run double and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead. Holy Family cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. But sophomore pitcher Amber Padilla (Chino, CA/Pomona Catholic) held the Tigers to a hit and two walks the rest of the way to wrap up the victory.

Padilla gave up two unearned runs on three hits over seven innings to improve to 10-2 on the season. Freshman Lauren Frye (Jupiter, FL/Jupiter) had two hits, while McCready scored two runs.

In the second game, Erin Corrado led off the second inning with a home run for a 1-0 Holy Family lead. Caldwell struck back with three runs in the top of the third. Frye singled in freshman Gracie Sullivan (Elmhurst, IL/York) and later scored on a groundout by McCready. With Reighn on first and junior Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea) on third, Reighn got caught in a rundown attempting to steal, allowing Knorr to come home for a 3-1 lead.

Freshman Sydney Ponto (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) made the lead stand, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings to improve to 10-2 on the year. Holy Family's Bailey Walters held the Cougars to three runs, two earned on two hits over seven innings.

Caldwell hosts Adelphi University in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 15, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
