CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College baseball team defeated Philadelphia University twice, 11-5 and 6-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Kiwanis Oval. Caldwell used a seven-run fourth inning to pull away from Philadelphia in Game 1. Senior Tom Todaro (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) hit a two-run single, and junior Thomas Pisano (N. Todaro also delivered a two-run hit in the seventh, while juniors Joe O'Donnell (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and Paul Nyitray (Cranford, NJ/St. Joseph's) and sophomore Jack Joyce (Bayside, NY/St. Mary's) had two hits apiece.

Junior right-hander Dan Bartlett (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) turned in a solid outing, giving up one unearned run on seven hits while fanning two in seven innings.

In the second game it was sophomore Michael Sheridan (Caldwell, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) who kept the Rams at bay, tossing a six-hit shutout with two walks and six strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the season. Morena sparked a three-run third inning with a double that plated Nyitray and junior Andrew Nunez (East Elmhurst, NY/Cardozo). Junior Stephen Luczaj (N. Merrick, NY/Mepham) also hit a sacrifice fly that scored O'Donnell in the third. Pisano and junior Phil Ragusa (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) both hit RBI singles in the seventh.

Pisano led the Cougar bats with three hits in Game 2, and Nunez had two hits in the win.
