Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Caldwell College softball team won a pair of games against Felician College, 9-6 and 5-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Matera Field. The results give the Cougars a 13-4 record overall, including a 4-0 mark in conference play, while the Golden Falcons fall to 7-15, 3-5 CACC.

In the first game, Felician scored a run in the third on a single by Aimee Lopez to take a 1-0 lead. Caldwell answered in the top of the fourth, getting a run-scoring double by sophomore Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda) and a two-run triple by freshman Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ/Triton Reg.) to lead 3-1. Then in the fifth, sophomore Briana Gaspich (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) singled home freshman Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL/Dwyer) before Calderon hit a two-run home run to put the Cougars ahead, 6-1.

Felician scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and another in the sixth to make it a two-run game, 6-4. But Caldwell put the game out of reach with three runs in the top of the seventh on a three-run homer by Calderon, her team-leading sixth of the season. The performance marked the second game with two home runs in the past two days for Calderon, who hit two homers in the first game against Bloomfield on Tuesday.

Senior Kourtney Wilson (Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) improved to 7-1 on the season, allowing four runs, two earned, on eight hits while striking out five in six innings of work.

In Game 2, senior Dia Cascone (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) had an RBI single and sophomore Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the first to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead. After the Golden Falcons made it 2-1 on a double by Taylor Parker that plated Lopez in the fourth, the Cougars scored three times in the fifth for a 5-1 advantage. Gaspich led off the inning with a home run, and Velardi hit a two-run triple to score Reighn and Cascone. The Golden Falcons scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and loaded the bases with two out, but freshman Amber Padilla (Chino, CA/Pomona Catholic) retired the final batter to end the threat and the game.

Padilla went the distance and held Felician to two runs on three hits while striking out four and walking two to improve to 4-1. Sophomore Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea) had two hits for the Cougars, who have won nine straight games.

Caldwell faces Philadelphia University in a CACC doubleheader on Thursday, Mar. 28. The first game starts at 2:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
