LANTANA, Fla. – The Caldwell College baseball team lost its final game at the Palm Beach Challenge, falling to St. Thomas Aquinas College, 10-9 Thursday afternoon at the Santaluces Sports Complex. The Cougars drop to 1-9 on the season.
After the Spartans (8-4) scored five runs in the first inning, Caldwell scored a run in the third and four in the fourth to tie the score at 5-5. Sophomore

Andrew Nunez (East Elmhurst, NY/Cordozo) delivered a two-run triple and later scored on a single by junior
Joe O'Donnell (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) to lead 8-5. The Spartans answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth, including a two-run triple by Stanley Susana that made the score 10-8 STAC. A bunt by junior
Stephen Luczaj (N. Merrick, NY/Mepham) plated junior
Steve Valenti (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) in the seventh, but the Cougars were unable to score the tying run.

Anthony Morena (Westbury, NY/Holy Cross) led Caldwell with two hits apiece. The Cougars batted .296 and scored 54 runs in nine games in Florida.
The Cougars host Merrimack College on Saturday, Mar. 16 for a non-conference doubleheader. The first game starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Kiwanis Oval in Caldwell, N.J.
