RINDGE, N.H. – The Caldwell College women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat to Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. The loss drops the Cougars to 0-2 on the season, while the Ravens improve to 1-0.
Franklin Pierce tallied a pair of unassisted goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. Less than five minutes into the second half, Hannah Weagle scored her second goal of the game to give the Ravens a 3-0 advantage. Then in the 72nd minute, freshman Remi Piccirillo (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) scored her first collegiate goal and the Cougars' first goal of the season when she knocked in a loose ball from 10 yards out. But Franklin Pierce restored its three-goal lead with a tally from Talita Pereira in the 88th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Kristina Cabales (Islip Terrace, NY/ East Islip) recorded four saves in goal for Caldwell. Casey Edward and Lauren Brewer shared goalkeeping duties for the Ravens, with Brewer making two saves in the second half.
The Cougars play a non-conference game at Molloy College on Wednesday, Sept. 5, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
