	ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College softball lost a pair of close games to Dominican College, 3-2 and 6-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at the DC Softball Field Friday afternoon. The results give the Cougars a 35-12 record on the season and a 19-5 mark in league play. The Chargers (32-14) clinch the CACC regular-season title with a 23-1 record in the conference.
	
	Caldwell took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning of Game 1 on a double by senior Marisa Tamez (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley) that scored freshman Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda). Dominican answered with two runs in the bottom of the second, then Kathryn Coles hit a solo home run in the fourth for a 3-1 lead. Freshman Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) cut the deficit to one in the top of the sixth with a single that plated sophomore Nicole Velardi (Belleville, NJ/Belleville). In the top of the seventh, junior Dia Cascone (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) hit a two-out double to put the tying run in scoring position. But Dominican pitcher Delaney Childers retired the final batter on a pop-up to end the game.
	
	Junior pitcher Kourtney Wilson (Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) allowed three runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings to absorb the loss for Caldwell.
	
	In the second game, the Cougars jumped ahead in the top of the first on a double by Calderon that brought home freshman Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) for a 1-0 lead. Again, the Chargers responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, then added another run in the third for a 2-1 lead. Then in the fifth, Dominican plated three runs to pull ahead, 6-1. Calderon hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth, her fourth of the year, to make the score 6-3 Chargers.
	
	Calderon went 2-for-3 with three RBI to pace the Cougar offense. Senior Katie Margiotta (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had three hits, while Knorr finished with two hits. Freshman Hanna Walkinshaw (Aptos, CA/Aptos) took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
	
	Caldwell wraps up the regular season with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College at home on Saturday, Apr. 21. The first game starts at 12:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
