CALDWELL, N.J. – The Caldwell College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to C.W. Post, 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Kiwanis Oval. The loss gives the Cougars a 9-23 record on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 20-14.
C.W. Post scored a run in the top of the second inning, then put four runs on the board in the fourth for a commanding 5-0 lead. Caldwell scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, when junior Peter Scianna (Chicago, IL/St. Mary's) singled home sophomore Andrew Nunez (East Elmhurst, NY/Cardozo). The Pioneers added an unearned run in the top of the ninth to make the score 6-1.
Sophomore Joe O'Donnell (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) had two hits for the Cougars, while sophomore Al Etter (Millville, NJ/Sacred Heart) and senior Matt Cook (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) held the Pioneers to one run over the final five innings.
Caldwell hosts Felician College in a non-conference game on Thursday, Apr. 19, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Kiwanis Oval.
