Post struck first in Game 1, scoring a pair of runs on an error in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead. Caldwell answered in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer by freshman Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), tying the game at 2-2. The Eagles used the long ball to regain the lead, as Christina Udris hit a solo shot in the fourth, then followed Amy Mantha's lead-off homer in the sixth with a two-run home run later that inning for a 6-2 lead.

Post pitcher Ashley Cummings held the Cougars to two runs on seven hits in seven innings for the win. Junior Dia Cascone (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) went 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Knorr had two hits.

Knorr helped the Cougars get off to a quick start in the second game, hitting her second home run of the day and sixth of the season in the bottom of the first inning. Still in the first, freshman Alyssa Calderon (Fontana, CA/Etiwanda) hit a solo home run, and freshman Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) doubled home sophomore Nicole Velardi (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) for a 3-0 lead. Then in the second, Knorr hit a two-run double and came home on a single by Calderon to put Caldwell on top, 6-0. The Cougars scored two more runs in the third, including an RBI double from Cascone, for an 8-0 advantage.

Freshman Hanna Walkinshaw (Aptos, CA/Aptos) earned her third shutout of the season, allowing just three hits while striking out one in five innings to improve to 7-4.

The Cougars play a non-conference doubleheader at American International College on Thursday, Apr. 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
