WHYTE LEADS CALDWELL MEN'S SOCCER PAST CONCORD, 3-0

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore forward Mosiah Whyte (Coram, NY/Newfield) scored twice as the Caldwell College men's soccer team defeated Concord University, 3-0 at the East Stroudsburg Tournament Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The victory came in the first game of the 2011 season for the Cougars, and the first game for new head coach Rob Grosso.

Junior forward Chris Skarbelis (N. Andover, MA/Leonardtown) put Caldwell on the scoreboard 15 minutes into the game. Juniors Donald Kafer (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) and Facundo Zalazar (Buenos Aires City, Argentina/San Agustin) assisted on the goal. Then in the 21st minute, Whyte tallied his first of the game off a pass from sophomore midfielder Kristopher Bistre (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) for a 2-0 lead. Whyte, who scored nine goals as a freshman to earn all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference second team honors, ran onto a pass from freshman Sebastian Wiberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Norra Real) and put the ball past goalkeeper Matt Hamilton.

Just before halftime, Whyte almost notched his third goal when his header was cleared off the line by a Concord defender. Junior goalkeeper Brian Agostini (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) made two saves in 71 minutes his first collegiate start. Freshman Alex Cunha (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) also saw action in goal, making one save. Hamilton recorded two saves in goal for Concord.

Caldwell takes on the host Warriors on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the East Stroudsburg Tournament. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
