COUGARS DROP PAIR OF GAMES IN FLORIDA

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Caldwell College softball team fell to C.W. Post University, 7-3 and to Wayne State University, 10-0 as the Rebel Springs Games continued at the Osceola County Sports Complex Monday afternoon. The losses keep the Cougars winless on the season at 0-6.

In the game against C.W. Post, scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the fourth to lead 5-0. Caldwell mounted a comeback with three runs in the top of the sixth. Senior Patti Garofolo (Collegeville, PA/Springford) and sophomores Sierra Parker (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills) and Dia Cascone (Staten Island, NY/Susan Wagner) each drove in runs in the inning to make the score 5-3 Pioneers. But C.W. Post put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth, then retired the Cougars in the seventh to end the game.

Cascone (pictured) finished with three hits, while sophomores Kourtney Wilson (Islip, NY/St. Anthony) and Cassandra Cefolo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) each had two hits. Wilson absorbed the loss after giving up 13 hits and seven runs, five earned, in six innings.

In the second game, Caldwell managed just two hits against Wayne State's Sam Cain, who blanked the Cougars over five innings. The Warriors scored one run in the top of the first, then scored three runs apiece in the second, fourth and fifth innings to cruise to the win. Sophomore Kelly Schymanski (Pottstown, PA/Owen Roberts) pitched four innings and took the loss.

Caldwell takes on Stonehill College and the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Tuesday, Mar. 15 at the Fortune Road Complex.
