Gambone Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

Sunday's Perfect Game, First in Caldwell, CACC History, Earns Honor

DALLAS -- Junior righthander Jonathan Gambone (Westville, N.J.) has been named NCBWA Division II National Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 26, the organization announced today.

Gambone, who earlier this week ws selected as the CACC Pitcher of the Week, fired the first perfect game in Caldwell and CACC history in seven-inning, 11-0 run rule win over Lincoln on Sunday. He threw just 62 pitches in the contest, striking out five. He has gone seven innings in each of his last three starts. 

Gambone finished 2026 at 4-2 with a team-best 5.04 ERA. He struck out 45 batters in 55 1/3 innings in his first season of competition with the Cougars after transferring from Salem (N.J.) Community College.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
