SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Senior
Geraldy Volcy (Irvington, N.J.) set school records at 200 meters (21.80) and 400 meters (48.62) and seven Cougars earned CACC Championship qualifying marks in eight events as Caldwell University men's track & field excelled at the Shippensburg Invitational on Thursday. Volcy finished seventh in the 200 with the record time and also took fourth in the 400, an event he's already qualified in.
The seven qualifiers for Caldwell include:
- Freshman Messiah Findley (Linden, N.J.), 200 meters, 22nd place, 22.84; and 110 HH, 16.89
- Graduate Lawton Haynes (Montclair, N.J.), 400 meters, 13th, 51.29
- Senior Jakub Sobura-Durma (Kielce, Poland), 400 meter hurdles, 8th, 58.3
- Junior Logan Howell (Vernon, N.J.), javelin, 20th 40.64
- Freshman Michael Miano (Hazlet, N.J.), javelin, 21st, 29.23
- Sophomore Christopher Francois (Bloomfield, N.J.), shot put, 18th, 37.66
- Senior Kevin Campen (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), hammer, 39th, 30.94
Other strong performances were turned in by:
- Freshman Mo Toure (Hamilton, N.J.), 800 meters, 7th, 2:05.31
- Junior Logan Kudla (Bloomfield, N.J.), 1600 meters, 6th, 4:19.61; 5K, 7th, 17:27.40
- Freshman Victor Carthell (Bloomfield, N.J.), 110 meter hurdles, 9th, 16.24*
- Sophomore Kevin Philistin (No. Plainfield, N.J.), triple jump, 4th, 14.12*
- Senior Andrew Scopel (Green Brook, N.J.), javelin, 8th, 49.61*
*denotes individual had previously already qualified for this event
And the 4x400 relay team of Volcy, sophomore
Nick Montiel (Totowa, N.J.), Sobura-Durma and Toure placed third at 3:28.49.
The Cougars next travel to the Kean University Cougar Showcase in Union, N.J. next Thursday.
