SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. -- Caldwell, seeded No. 2, topped third-seed Felician, two games to none, then fell, 2-1, to top seed Dominican in action at the CACC Championships on Saturday at Pike Lanes.
Caldwell will again take on Felician at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the winner then needing to defeat Dominican twice in the afternoon to take the crown.
In Saturday's play, which began with a 1008-833 triumph over Felician in Baker format and 837-830 in traditional play for the 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three.
The Cougars, after dropping the team scoring format to Dominican 866-840, came back win the Baker, 920-845, before falling 4-2 in the best of seven.
For the day, in Traditional scoring, sophomore
Faith Perrin (Brick Twp., N.J.) led CU with a 179.5 average, followed by senior
Samantha Glunk (Chatham, N.Y.) at 171.5 and junior
Allie Rumfield (Phillpsburg, N.J.) at 168.0.
In Baker format, junior
Alex Sardis's (Milltown, N.J.) 19.80 frame average led the way, followed by Rumfield at 19.78 and Perrin at 19.25.
