NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior GK
Ariana Gaminara (Las Vegas) and sophomore defender
Ayla Fraser (Passaic, N.J.) have been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Sept. 28, the league announced today.
Gaminara, who has a league-best 0.40 goals against average, shut out Chestnut Hill, 1-0, on Saturday, making seven saves, including a PK stop in the 60th minute to preserve the win. She earned two victories, also making four saves in a 2-1 triumph over Bridgeport on Wednesday. Her clean sheet against CHC was her fourth of the season and school-record 23rd of her career.
Fraser was a stalwart defender for CU, playing all 180 minutes in the two CACC victories. She also placed two shots on goal against Chestnut Hill as CU limited its two opponents to one total goal. She has played the entire 90 minutes in four of the past five contests.
It is the first player of the week honor for both. Gaminara has earned Honor Roll twice.
