SINKING SPRINGS, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's bowling team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University in the championship match to win the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Kutztown University.
 
The Cougars again went 4-1 in Sunday's match play as they defeated Molloy University 967-869 to start the day. Caldwell downed Chestnut Hill College 863-775 before falling short to Kutztown University, 1,001-912. The Cougars closed out match against D'Youville College with a 866-805 win to finish as the top seed in the best of seven one-round bracket format.
 
Caldwell faced top seed Fairleigh Dickinson for the tournament championship where the Cougars won the first game 198-176 before tying 167-167 in game two. The Knights won the third game 222-193, while Caldwell took a 2.5-1.5 lead with a 190-188 win the fourth game. Fairleigh Dickinson pulled even with a 204-199 game five win, but the Cougars answered with a 217-173 win in game six. The Knights forced a tiebreaking roll-off with a 183-164 win in the seventh game and even the best of seven match at 3.5-3.5.
 
The Cougars emerged victorious in the roll-off with a 94-93 win in the tiebreaker to capture the tournament championship.

Senior Rhianna Smith (Mt Olive, N.J.) was named the Tournament MVP with the top traditional average on Saturday. Smith was joined by graduate Victoria Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) on the all-tournament team as Vucak finished third in the traditional average on Saturday.
 
The Cougars return to action as they compete in the Seahawk Invitational hosted by Wagner College November 5-6.
