Women’s Bowling Takes Third Place on Opening Day of ECC Championship; Secure Spot in Saturday’s Semifinal

MINEOLA N.Y.- The Caldwell University women's bowling team finished in third place on the opening day of the East Coast Conference Championship to secure a spot in Saturday's semifinal. The Cougars posted three wins and a total pin fall of 4,250 to take third place.
 
Chestnut Hill College took the top spot in the opening day with a total pin fall of 4,287, while Daemen College came in second place with a total pin fall of 4,263. Roberts Wesleyan University secured the final spot in the semifinals with a total pin fall of 4,182.
 
The Cougars fell in their opening match to Chestnut Hill 859-831. Caldwell defeated Mercyhurst University 823-733 and totaled 807 pins in their third round bye. The Cougars finished the opening day with two wins as the defeated St. Thomas Aquinas College 888-674 and Daemen 901-874.
 
Sophomore Rhianna Smith (Mount Olive, N.J.) led the Cougars with an 18.48 baker average, while senior Deanne Murray (McMurray, Pa.) posted a baker average of 18.20.
 
Junior Jenna Rapach (Hazleton, Pa.) finished with a baker average of 18.10, while junior Victoria Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) recorded a baker average of 17.68. Senior Madison Perry (Hawthorne, N.J.) rounded out the top performers with a 16.34 baker average.
 
The third seeded Cougars will face second seed Daemen in the ECC semifinal on Saturday, February 27 at 10:10 am. The other semifinal features the top seeded Chestnut Hill and the fourth seed Roberts Wesleyan. Both semifinal matches will be played in mega match format with the winners facing off at approximately 1:40 pm in another mega match format.
 
Caldwell's semifinal match will be streamed live on the Caldwell University Athletics Facebook page. If the Cougars advance to the championship match, the ECC will live stream the championship match on the ECC Network at https://eccsportsnetwork.com/
