FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Caldwell University women's bowling team posted three wins on day one of the Bowl for the Cure hosted by Sacred Heart University. Junior
Rhianna Smith (Mt Olive, N.J.) won the singles individual championship that followed the team matches.
The Cougars opened the tournament with a 904-837 loss to Kutztown University. Caldwell answered with three straight wins as they defeated St. Francis College Brooklyn 866-797, LIU 884-784 and host Sacred Heart 985-951. The Cougars closed out the opening day with an 871-824 loss to LIU.
Smith led the Cougars with as 207.2 traditional average over five matches with a high game of 226. Senior
Jenna Rapach (Hazleton, Pa.) finished with a five-round traditional average of 181.0 and a high round of 216.

Victoria Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) posted a five-round average of 169.2 with a high game of 199. Sophomore
Lauren Marks (Parsippany, N.J.) recorded a four-round average of 165.25 with a high game of 216.
Following the team matches, the tournament featured a singles championship as Smith and Rapach both reached the finals in bracket. Smith edged Rapach 168-164 to win the singles championship.
