Box Score 2 POMONA, N.Y.- The Caldwell University baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Nyack College. The Cougars took the opener 9-7, while the Warriors won the nightcap 9-5.

The Cougars move to 7-33 overall and 7-19 in the CACC, while the Warriors stand at 21-19-1 and 14-12 in conference play. Â

Nyack got on the board with two runs om the second inning. Caldwell battled back with three runs in the fourth and three in the fifth. Sophomore
Jack Zosulis (East Hanover, N.J.) connected on a solo homerun in the fourth. Junior
Anthony Parente (Jackson, N.J.) was hit by a pitch, while senior
Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, N.J.) singled to put runners at first and third. Senior
Rob DeSanti (Barnegat, N.J) singled in a run, while senior
Paul Marinello (Freehold, N.J.) reached on a fielder's choice to score Jeannette to put the Cougars ahead 3-2. Â

In the fifth, Caldwell loaded the bases to start the inning. Parente singled in a pair of runs, while Jeannette added a run scoring single for a 6-2 lead. Nyack rallied with three runs in the fifth and took a 7-6 lead with two runs in the seventh.

The Cougars battled back in the eighth as senior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, N.Y.) walked with one out. Junior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) singled and advanced to third on the error, while Bernstein scored to tie the game. Zosulis singled in a run, while Parente doubled home a run for a 9-7 lead.

Sophomore
Jack Anderson (Nyack, N.Y.) earned the win in relief as he allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with four strikeouts to improve to 3-4. Junior
Anthony Frascati (Bloomfield, N.J) earned his third save of the season with a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.

In the nightcap, the Warriors scored two runs in the opening inning to take the early lead. Caldwell tied the score in the third inning as senior
Daniel Gregor (Monroe, N.J.) posted an RBI single. Bernstein reached on a fielder's choice to score Marinello to tie the score at two.

Nyack extended their lead to 9-2 after five innings of play. Caldwell added three runs in the seventh but the Warriors held on to earn a split.

Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) tossed 2 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts to fall to 1-3.

The Cougars travel to Wilmington University on Saturday, April 28 for a CACC doubleheader at noon.
