CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University softball freshman
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and freshman
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each homered as the Cougars swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference against Concordia College. Caldwell won the opener 8-1 in five innings and completed the sweep with an 8-0 win in five innings in the nightcap.

The Cougars posted their sixth straight win and their 12th in the last 13 games to improve to 21-13 and 15-1 in the CACC. The Clippers drop to 5-16 and 3-12 in conference play.

Concordia took the early lead with a solo homerun in the first inning of the first game. Caldwell answered in the bottom of the inning as sophomore
Melissa Rini (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) reached on an error, while senior
Marisa Monasseri (Monroe, N.J.) walked. Rodriguez blasted a three-run homerun to give Caldwell a 3-1 lead. The Cougars added a run in the second as freshman
Kaileen Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. She moved to third base and scored on a single by senior
Kiahna Silva (Etiwanda, Calif.).

In the fifth, Rodriguez reached on a fielder's choice. Sophomore
Christina Misiur (Sayreville, N.J.) singled to put runners at first and third. Cain reached on an error that allowed two runs to score. Senior
Katelyn Johnson (Denville, N.J.) singled, while freshman
Anyssia Ramirez (Brentwood, Calif.) reached on an error to load the bases. Silva and Rini both drew walks to force in a pair of runs. Monasseri singled to give the Cougars a 9-1 win.

Sophomore
Sara Bearden (Ewing, N.J.) improved to 11-6, as she tossed a complete game, allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts.

Carly Testa (Sicklerville, N.J.) drew a walk to load the bases. Sandoval connected on a grand slam homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.

Daniela Solis (Wilmington, Del.) reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Ramirez walked to force in a win, while Silva ended the game with a single.

Jessie Johnston (Livermore, Calif.) pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven to improve to 10-7 on the season.

The Cougars host Goldey-Beacom College for a CACC doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 pm. Prior to game, the Cougars will recognize its three seniors for the contributions to the program. Â
