READING, Pa.­- The Caldwell University women's bowling team opened the 2018-19 season with a pair of wins on day one of the Bud Whitman Classic hosted by Kutztown University.
 
Caldwell posted wins in their first two matches as they defeated Medaille College 908-800 and edged Bloomfield College 817-811. The Cougars fell in their next two matches 929-900 to Youngstown St. University and 955-873 loss to Duquesne University. Caldwell closed out the opening day with a 904-814 loss to host Kutztown.
 
Sophomore Madison Perry (Hawthorne, N.J.) led the Cougars with an 18.52 baker average.
Senior Jamie Lee Kulaga (West Hazleton, Pa.) posted a 17.30 baker average, while senior Amanda Scharf (North Brunswick, N.J.) finished with a 16.36 average. Freshman Jenna Rapach (Hazleton, Pa.) recorded an average of 15.96 on the opening day of the tournament.
