Dorn Nets 26 Points as Men’s Basketball Downs Felician

Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball senior Derek Dorn (New Rochelle, N.Y) netted a game-high 26 points as the Cougars defeated Felician University 83-69 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars improve to 9-11 overall and 6-5 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons drop to 8-10 and 5-5 on conference play.
 
Felician jumped out to a 17-10 lead over the first five minutes of play. The Cougars rallied back with a 17-5 run over the next four and a half minutes to take a five-point lead. Junior Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) drained a triple and added three free throws that tied the game at 20. Sophomore Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) added four points in the paint.
 
Sophomore AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) capped the run with a triple at the 9:26 mark to give the Cougars a 27-22 lead. The Golden Falcons battled back over the final two minutes of the half as they held a 38-37 lead at halftime.
 
Felician drained a triple early in the second half to take 41-39 lead. The Cougars retook the lead and pulled ahead by double-digits with a 17-5 run. Harrison posted eight points, while sophomore Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) added a trifecta. Dorn capped the run with a fast-break lay-up to put the Cougars in the lead at 56-46 with 14:06 left in the game.
 
The Golden Falcons closed the gap to five points at 67-62 with 6:20 remaining in the game. Caldwell went on a 10-1 run paced by a pair of crucial three-pointers by Dorn and sophomore Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) that extended the Cougars lead to 77-63 with 3:25 left in the game. Caldwell held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
Dorn led the way with 26 points, five assists and three rebounds. Harrison posted a season-high 20 points along with three boards. Sophomore Eric Johnson-Alford (Clifton, N.J.) chipped in nine points and two blocks, while Kittles recorded eight rebounds. Covington tallied seven points, four rebounds and three assists.
 
The Cougars travel to USciences on Saturday, January 27 at 3 pm in a CACC match-up.
