WALLINGFORD, Conn.- The Caldwell University women's bowling team competed at the two-day Northeast Conference Meet #2 this past weekend.
The Cougars went 1-9 in ten matches over the course of the weekend as they played traditional games on Saturday and baker format on Sunday.
On Saturday, Caldwell lost to St. Francis-Brooklyn 1,013-833 and LIU Brooklyn 936-821. The Cougars fell in their remaining matches on Day 1 to St. Francis 922-734, Fairleigh Dickinson University 976-862 and Sacred Heart University 892-778.
On the opening day, sophomore
Daniele Roca (Garden City, Park, NY) led the Cougars with a 170 average in five games, while freshman
Amanda Scharf (North Brunswick, NJ) posted a 163.6 average in five games. Freshman
Alexis Policastro (Carteret, NJ) bowling in three games, recording an average of 162.33, while freshman
Jamie Lee Kulaga (West Hazelton, PA) bowling an average round of 158 in five games.
Sunday featured baker format and the Cougars went 1-4 in match play on the final day of the tournament. Caldwell opened with losses to Fairleigh Dickinson 991-847 and St. Francis 1,021-923. The Cougars defeated LIU 1,024-891 but were edged out by St. Francis 885-858. Caldwell lost their final match of the weekend to Sacred Heart 985-870.
On Sunday, sophomore
Vanessa Mantione (Matawan, NJ) led the team with a 19.12 baker average, while Roca was next with an 18.40 average. Scharf was third on the team with an 18.38 baker average, while Policastro posted an 18.37 average. Junior
Natalie Pedri (Staten Island, NY) rounded out the top Caldwell finishers with am 18.22 baker average.
The Cougars conclude their season at the Northeast Championships on Friday, March 25 and Saturday March 26 at Howell Lanes in Howell, NJ.
